Celebrating RCA Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta: Our Community Hero Making a Difference! 🌟
We are thrilled to announce that the Richland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has been honored as a Q1-2025 Eventpasshero Community Hero Awardee!🏆 This esteemed recognition and $250 gift celebrates their unwavering commitment to community service, educational empowerment, and cultural enrichment within Richland, Lexington, Newberry, and Fairfield Counties in South Carolina.
A Legacy of Service and Empowerment
Established on April 24, 1994, the Richland County Alumnae Chapter (RCA) has consistently embodied the core values of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.: sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. Over the past three decades, RCA has been a beacon of hope and progress, implementing programs that address critical community needs and foster personal development.
Educational Initiatives
Education stands at the forefront of RCA’s mission. Through their annual Red Diamond Scholarship Gala, the chapter has raised substantial funds, enabling them to award scholarships to deserving high school and collegiate students. To date, RCA has facilitated scholarships totaling over $200,000, empowering promising young women and men to pursue higher education. RCA Delta Sigma Theta Programs
In addition to financial support, RCA’s Delta GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) program provides tools that enable girls aged 14-18 within their service area to sharpen and enhance their skills, achieve high levels of academic success, and become compassionate, community-minded leaders.
Health and Wellness Advocacy
RCA is deeply invested in promoting physical and mental health within the community. Their annual Red Dress Luncheon serves as an opportunity to educate and bring awareness to heart disease, particularly among women. Scheduled every first Saturday of February, this event kicks off “Healthy Heart Month,” reflecting RCA’s commitment to supporting communities and addressing the growing demands of heart disease.
Cultural Enrichment
The chapter’s dedication to the arts is exemplified through their Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant. This national program within Delta Sigma Theta reflects the Sorority’s commitment to scholarship and the arts. Participants engage in enrichment workshops, community service projects, and fundraising activities, culminating in a pageant that showcases their talents and achievements. Funds raised support the chapter’s community outreach efforts and scholarships.
Community Engagement and Social Action
RCA actively participates in social action initiatives, sponsoring voter registration and education programs, combating voter suppression, and engaging in various community service projects. Their efforts ensure that the communities they serve are informed, empowered, and equipped to advocate for positive change.
Looking Ahead
As the Q1-2025 Eventpasshero Community Hero Awardee, the Richland County Alumnae Chapter will receive a monetary award to further their impactful initiatives. Eventpasshero is honored to support RCA’s ongoing efforts and will provide public relations coverage to highlight their exemplary work, inspiring others to contribute to community upliftment.
